 Post subject: Help identifying or dating tsuba and mountings, please.

The katana I posted has these fittings. I'm at a loss to use the Japanese dictionary (I need to refresh on that, too) and seem to be getting quite frustrated going around in circles.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Yes, I'm looking at a book on the fittings, trying to decide if I will need it more than once.

Well I am hoping you got your answer long before now. The signature on the left side of the fuchi is SOYO

Yokoya Soyo is a well known line - I cant tell you what the other side says though it looks like: 英子

To my eye this is late Edo stuff - quality is better than a lot of stuff we see but does not rise to master level. imho
