Hello,

Can someone help me with the translation of the sword tester's name on this nakago? I have Heihei Shigetsugu, but is this correct? Any information on the tester would be very helpful too. (ie. when he worked, where, etc.)

I'll also attach the torokusho.

Thank you,
Pablo

You think it reads "Hitomi" somewhere?

人見伝兵衛. Sorry the wrong kanji for DEN earlier yours is the older form of den. Hitomi is the family name, Denbei is his given name and Shigetsugu is his official or working name...

Right on brother. So, for those following along, Denbei Shigetsugu is the name.

Thank you!
Pablo

re: Tameshi mei

The date has been cut by the suriage process but I believe it to be:

寛文七年八月晦日

Kanbun shichi nen hachi gatsu misoka

Seventh year of Kanbun eighth month 30th day

Hope this helps.

By the way, it is Hitomi Denbeei Shigetsugu.
