 Post subject: Help to identify signature on tsuba

Dear All,

I have a tsuba mounted on a wakizashi that is signed. I would apprechiate help with the translation as I do not know the kanji.

The signature is a little hard to see in your photo. Below is what I think I see;

江府住 並直

Which I would render; Efû ju Naminao or Mitsunao I did not however find this guy listed so further research will need to be done if this is in fact what you are seeing.

Dear Thomas,

thank you very much indeed. I screened the net and found two other tsuba. One was sold in a Christies auction on 16th June 1999 ( lot 6176) and described " oval , maple leaves in yo-sukashi, gilt details, signed Kofu ju Naminao. As the kanji for Ko is close to the one for E this is very likely to be the same signature.

A second one was discussed in the forum of the Nihonto Message Board and translated as Efu ju Naminao. The attached picture of the signature is actually looking like the one on my tsuba.
